YOUTH CONVENTION 08 (In their own words)

Wow! Another youth convention come and gone. But as always, more stories to tell about what God is doing in the lives our the teens. This year was an amazing year, not because of the speaker (he was ok), not because a of a cool band (they were good), but because God did His thing. Of the students that went this year, I would say over 90% got touched or challenged by God. In the past, if half or more were open then that was a good year.

How cool is it when students that have never been baptized in the Holy Spirit come and start talking to you about something weird that just happened to them. Or hearing that they had never really “felt” God’s presence before, but now know first hand what He is like. This is what it is all about for me, helping students get in touch with God. I have so many stories I would like to share with you about what happened at convention, but I must resist for now. Instead, I will let them tell you in their own words.

My name is Mike Wolski. This has been my third year at to convention. This year coming to convention I expected it to be just like my other years going. At first I didn’t really feel “hungry” for the Lord, but by the second service I really was. I had a really awesome time there with my friends but at the services I felt like it was just me and the Lord. I never liked raising my hands because I didn’t want people to think I’m soft. But at convention I realized it’s not about what other people think and I really respect people who do raise their hands. I told Jared I wanted to write a speech about how convention affected me. I’m starting to read the bible more and base what I do on the Lord. I had such a good time there I can’t wait for camp. I’m going to try to do a lot more church activities and go to small groups every Sunday. I’m going to be a better person in everything I do (I’m even going to try to eat healthier). I’m Mike Wolski, don’t call me soft.
